Overview
Agropur, a North America dairy industry leader, is building a new state-of-the-art facility in Little Chute, WI. They sought to build renewable energy into the project from the start, and EnTech Solutions was secured to provide sustainable power to the project job site.
Challenges
Project job sites are traditionally powered by the utility grid, but EnTech provided Agropur with a clean-energy solution that included cost controls, reliability of energy, feasibility of installation and real-time energy performance monitoring. This enabled Agropur to make a sound comprehensive business decision about the energy required for the yearlong construction project.
Solution
EnTech Solutions installed two Xcape™ off-grid microgrids on the job site in less than 2 weeks, harvesting 40kW of solar paired with 160 kWh of battery storage to power three job trailers. Solar energy that isn’t immediately utilized is stored in batteries for use when the sun isn’t shining. A low-carbon propane generator was also installed to provide additional resiliency for days when there is not adequate sun to provide the power. Aside from powering the job trailers, additional solar energy is supplied to the Agropur wastewater treatment plant, which further supports their sustainability goals.
Estimated Annual Impact
- Annual energy produced: 49.6 MWh
